The sketch for the supraporte of the music room in the Palais Dumba in Vienna does not yet show Franz Schubert. Nikolaus Dumba, the commissioner of the painting was a great Schubert admirer and so only in the executed painting Klimt replaces the anonymous piano player by the famous Viennese composer. The painting is only brought to us by a reproduction. As with so many paintings of Gustav Klimt it burnt in World War II in Schloss Immendorf.
